Welcome Reader,

This site is mostly about tips and thoughts that I have in computing, through my own experiences as a software developer. I also have a tendency to write about an eclectic mix of subjects that interests me, philosophies that I have, or things that are happening in my life. The nature of is blog is purely personal, and any opinions expressed are solely of my own, and do not represent the opinions, views or any affiliation to the companies I work for, past and present.

If you are new to my site, let me give you a quick introduction of myself. I was born in Singapore in 1979, where I had lived in for the first 20 odd years of my life, before moving to Sydney, Australia where I have been resident for the last 6 years. Currently, I am residing in San Francisco for closing a year already due to the requirements from work.

Educational Background

I am a graduate from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, where I am a recipient of the Golden Jubilee Scholarship from the university, which has gratuitously funded my entire duration of studies. I graduated in late 2003, receiving my Degree with 1st Class Honours in Computer Science. Prior that, I had attended for 3 years in Singapore Polytechnic, where I received a Diploma with Merit in Electronics and Computer Engineering.

Work Experience

I currently work for a startup based in Sydney, mainly in areas related to distributed memory architectures. Prior to my current employment, the various job positions I held in the past (in reverse chronological order) :-

  • Casual Tutoring, UNSW, Australia, subjects including E-Commerce Systems (now defunct), Object Oriented Software Development and Data Organisation;
  • Internship, Multimedia Software Developer, Educational and Staff Development Department, Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore;
  • Part-time Computer Lab Technician, Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore;
  • Casual Contractor, Software Consultant, contracted by AT&T to Texas Instrument, Singapore;
  • *gasp*, Trainee Chef, Raffles Hotel, Singapore. (No, I can't cook well anymore!)

Personal Interests

In my free time, I like to spend time to keep myself fit (a.k.a exercise) and keeping myself updated with of health trends and issues. I am also interested in social and environmental issues, and while I may be quite political (centralist-left wing) in my views, I'm not into advocacy of any sort. I also like to write, which explains why this blog records almost anything in life that has caught my fancy, although I will try to keep it focused mostly on things related to software development.
